Yatton is a North Somerset village about 8 miles from central Weston-super-Mare, sitting in BS49. It's a mix of older village-centre cottages and Victorian terraces near the High Street, with a good spread of 1970s and 1980s semis on the outskirts and some newer cul-de-sac developments beyond that. We get called out here for blocked drains, slow-running gullies and root ingress fairly regularly. It's a quieter run than the town jobs but the older housing stock keeps us busy.
We typically come in on the B3133 through Congresbury or drop down from the A370. The village centre has older clay pipework that's had decades of root intrusion from established garden trees, and the shared sewer arrangements on some of the period streets can make tracing a blockage more involved than it first looks. The lower-lying ground toward the moors means surface water sits longer after heavy rain, and we see more gully and soakaway problems here than you'd expect for a village its size. The 1970s estates generally have uPVC, but the joints aren't always great.
Most common Yatton jobs
- Clearing root-blocked clay drains on older village-centre properties
- CCTV surveys to trace shared sewer problems between neighbouring houses
- Soakaway inspections on homes where surface water pools after rain
- Unblocking kitchen and bathroom drains on 1980s semis
- High-pressure jetting to clear silt build-up in roadside gullies
- Patching cracked clay pipe sections without full excavation where possible

Yatton FAQ
Often it's both. Low-lying ground in this part of North Somerset doesn't drain quickly at the best of times, but a failed soakaway or a partially blocked land drain will make it significantly worse. We can camera the drain runs and check the soakaway condition to tell you what's fixable and what's just the nature of the ground.
